September 14 The Comp or Zed CArdTHE COMP CARD.
Any questions on the Comp card ask it in this thread please. This is a good rough guide to give you some idea what is required. Dont be afraid to ask! Sometimes called the Zed Card. What is it? & is
it advisable to have one?
It's the 'Business Card for the model & is
essential if your serious about your chosen career. It should contain some great
photos of you & some basic info & stats. This is what you leave with
possible clients, with photographers, you can post to people too, I say post as
a lot of bookers, agents & photographers clooect these & often thumb
through them, keeping you fresh in mind.If you email, your burried &
forgotten very quickly.
I'm sure you all know someone that is a computer
geek & can put this together for you & print them out using reasonable
printers, although dont go too mad as you will soon want to change the chosen
images as you 'evolve' your look & direction. Keep your costs to a minimum!
You will probably be a while getting your career off the ground.
Size is around 5.25 inches wide and 8 inches tall.
On the front is your headshot with the name your using for your career, and
possibly your Agencies logo if you have one. On the back, around 4 pictures with
(I recomend) 2 pics being full body shots as Clients like to see the proportion
of the person. Again, it’s about information. Do you “look” tall? Do you
“look” short, or maybe even look normal? Wear different outfits in each shot
otherwise the client/Agency etc just assume that you have just put together a
portfolio and has little, if any, real modeling experience
Dont pick the images yourself! You & your
Agency will have a very different idea what will 'sell you'-trust me on that
one! Dont trust friends, Mum, Dad etc, seek professional advice! What I look at
& like will be different from what you may like, or your Mum etc.
If I am represented by an agency, who pays for
the printing of the cards?
You do. Yeah I know-that really sucks! Dont be afraid to show plenty of your body! No not topless-but arms, legs, tummy if its toned, not your bum & dont choose too Glam & make up, they will assume you're intending a certain direction ;-) Theres plenty of examples of comp cards on the net.
