Tate Britain

This is on at Tate Britain & I will be going next week, & then a couple of galeries after that.

This is the first major exhibition of photography ever to be held at Tate Britain. It takes a unique look at the journey of British photography, from the pioneers of the early medium to today’s photographers who use new technology to make and display their imagery.

The images in this exhibition have come from the length and breadth of the UK, and include well-known oeuvres alongside mesmerising lost masterpieces. As well as famous names – William Henry Fox Talbot, Lewis Carroll, Julia Margaret Cameron, Bill Brandt, Madame Yevonde, Susan Lipper, David Bailey and Tom Hunter among them – the exhibition includes postcards, family albums, medical photographs, propaganda and social documents. It includes work by many women photographers and photographers from different cultural backgrounds who are usually underplayed in the history of British photography.

I'll let you know what it's like & if it's worth going or not. That said, I AM looking forward to this one.

Victoria Beckham Jeans

Oh Dear......

Victoria Beckhams new jeans line, "that embodies the values of the Californian jet set lifestyle,"

got torn to shreds by the man that was once her boss. Robert de Keyser, founder of Geysered Fashion. He says

"The new Beckham range appears to be seriously overpriced for a line made out of a cheap fabric."

Oops!

Guess who?

Well? any ideas who this shy stylish woman is? She has been featured here before & here she is leaving her swanky London home.

OK OK..............

It's Kate, you know the rest ;-)

Autumn 07 fashion trend

PREPARE FOR DARK & MOODY-GET SET TO 'BLACK OUT'

THE OVERALL MOOD

Fendi - over-use of fur and cinched waistsAn abundance of black and only a smattering of colour, aggressive make-up, over-use of fur, cinched waists and mad hats are what we have to look forward to this Autumn.

Prediction houses were expecting Ziggy Stardust and Deco Sixties to set the catwalks alight. Traces of these influences can be seen but the style is more reminiscent of an evolution from the clean lean Spring/Summer trends.

This season is all about contemporary elegance from a minimalist palette – prepare to black out.

KEY STYLES

Key colours for day

  • blacks, browns, blues charcoals, plums and Bordeaux

Versace evening look in plumKey colours for evening

  • hints of fuchsia, pumpkin and violet

Key fabrics

  • gutsy fabrics like: Donegal tweed, herringbone, heather cashmere, melton*, embroidered astrakhans**, shearlings, double wool boucles, and furs

Key garment

  • knitted cardigan coat

Key accessory

  • huge platform shoes

* Melton - a thick-to-medium-thick tightly woven wool with heavily brushed nap giving the fabric a smooth finish with no warp or weft yarns visible
** Astrakhan - closely-curled black or grey fur from fleece of karakul lambs

COLOUR

  • Black, black and more black! with only a smattering of colour; just a hint of fuchsia, pumpkin and violet
  • The must-have colour combination is black‘n’blue
  • Blues range from deepest navy to bright cobalt
  • Blue leather makes a long-awaited return
  • The fabrics have high shine or are shot through with blue-black

KEY THEMES

Versace Neat & Black Neat & Black

Reminiscent of Hollywood in the 1930s

  • Colours are black, black and more black.
  • Key items include belted simple dresses, unfussy, modest-length skirts, thick black tights, high-cut shoes and hats.

A few links.

christina buys the Osbournes mansion.

Christina's gone & brought the Osbourne's mansion in Beverly Hills. eh?

Ozzy said;

“I don’t want to stay in that house any more… The house holds bad memories for me because it reminds me of the terrible time Sharon got cancer and of times when me and the kids were doped out of our minds.”

Funny, I only saw one episode from the Osbourne's & Ozzy was constantly complaining about the 10 dogs in the house shitting & pee'ing everywhere-all the time!

IT MUST FUCKING STINK!

Evangeline Lilly-Guess what she's shouting? Yep, starts with F!

God,  Evangeline Lilly is one of the most sanctimonious and self-important actresses in Hollywood. And why? what has she done to think shes an A lister? OK she's appeared in LOST so what. When she falls off a cliff it will be back to her old job

What was her job 3 years ago? Do you really wana know? Sit down... Listening to guys jerk off over the phone. Yep! Hey, I never judge but she now thinks shes Princess Di reincarnate.

Recognise her yet?

If I say corkscrew curls, well she did have!  It's Noemie Lenoir, a gorgeous girl you probably still have no idea who I'm talking about.

She has a Chelsea footballer boyfriend, Claude Makalele.

The mother of one, whose son Kelyan was born in February last year, graced giant posters nationwide, wearing just her bra and knickers. The campaign boosted M&S lingerie sales by 20 per cent and was one of the key factors behind the company's recent revival.

Noemie Lenoir, the daughter of a Madagascan mother and French father, was also part of the company's phenomenally successful marketing campaign featuring Twiggy, Laura Bailey and Erin O'Connor,  Mick Jagger’s daughter was in the follow up advert.

Until this year, the model and actress was largely unknown in Britain. She is, however, hugely successful in the US and Europe, where she has appeared in campaigns for Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci, Victoria's Secret and L'Oreal. She has had her head shaved for the part in a film & not in sympathy with Britney Spears. She is currently filming the third instalment in the Rush Hour franchise with Chris Tucker.

Incidently, the voice over for the latest  M & S advert you hear, the sultry soft voice is Dervla Kerwan, & the slow haunting tune is 'At the River' by Groove Armada.

July Vogue = BORING!

Hrm..... Not like Vogue NOT to catch my eye, but this one doesn't.

It has to be one of the most BORING covers I have ever seen! Sorry Vogue-no vote from me this time.

Emma Watson on the cover of Tatler 07-07

Nice to see Emma on the cover of July Tatler (Hermione) but why are people slating her? She is an actress & not some skinny model & doesn't profess to ever wanting to be a model. Good on ya Emma!

The mags thin (again) nothing new in it-or could they be saving something special for August? Actually I thought Isabella Blow would have got the cover, afterall, IMO she deserved it.

Jimmy Choo to launch a perfume

Don't get too excited-they're looking at 2009!

The France-based fragrance manufacturer and distributor said it planned to launch the first Choo branded scent in spring 2009. Details of the fragrance are not yet available but Selective said it would have “highly selective distribution” and be a product of the “utmost quality and creativity”.

Founder and president of Jimmy Choo Tamara Mellon said adding fragrance to the Choo portfolio had always been part of her ambition for the brand. “This exciting new partnership will not only give us the ability to meet the demand for a fragrance but also achieve my original vision for Jimmy Choo to be one of the most treasured luxury brands,” she said.

The news comes just one month after Selective Beauty announced a fragrance deal with Christian Dior fashion designer, John Galliano. The Jimmy Choo fragrance will also join brands such as Agent Provocateur, Sonia Rykiel, Chopard and MaxMara in Selective Beauty’s portfolio.

LISA SIMPSON PERFORMS A SEXUAL ACT

WELL, WHAT DID YOU THINK I'D POST? GO ON SQUINT-YOU KNOW YOU CAN SEE IT TOO!

London, June 07: Nearly 45,000 people have so far signed a petition demanding London’s 2012 Olympics logo be scrapped, organisers have said amid alarm after the animated version triggered epileptic fits.

The online petition was launched after the jagged, multi-coloured emblem was launched on Monday by former Olympic athletics champion Lord Sebastian Coe, Chairman of the London 2012 organising committee.

The committee has rebuffed criticism that the logo, which cost 400,000 pounds (800,000 dollars, 600,000 euros) to design, is "puerile" and "hideous," saying it is meant to be "edgy" and that people will get used to it.

But detractors have continued to flood websites with their own alternative proposals. By Wednesday afternoon some 43,400 people had signed a change the London 2012 logo petition, according to an online tally.

The row took another twist on Tuesday when it emerged the initial animated version of the logo included flashing lights had triggered epileptic fits in many people.

London mayor Ken Livingstone said yesterday he would not pay the company which produced the video.

"I wouldn’t pay them a penny. Who would go to a firm like that again to ask them to do that work? I mean, this is a pretty basic thing," Livingstone, who has been muted in his comments on the static logo, told the BBC.

Support group epilepsy action issued a statement saying "numerous" people had reported seizures as a result of watching the video.

"The animated footage could affect the 23,000 people in the UK who have photosensitive epilepsy and may also affect other people who do not yet know that they are photosensitive," the epilepsy action group said.

"We are concerned that the animated footage will not just be shown in the UK, where half a million people in the population have epilepsy, but it will also be shown all over the world.

And it added: "people can strive for years to gain seizure control and it is important that nothing puts this at risk."

Coe, the former 800 metres and 1,500 metres world record holder who won gold in the 1,500 metres at the 1980 and 1984 Olympics, has defended the logo designed by the Wolff Olins branding agency.

"It won’t be to be everybody’s taste immediately, but it’s a brand that we genuinely believe can be hard working... And reach out and engage young people, which is our challenge over the next five years," he said on Tuesday.

"It’s not a logo, it’s a brand that will take us forward for the next five years."

Lloyds TSB advert 'For the Journey'

Three times now I have been asked if I know what the theme tune for this advert is & yes I too think its a beautiful piece. The piece is called Eliza's Aria and it's part of Elena's ballet which is entitled "Wild Swans."   ELENA’S MYSPACE LINKa The music is performed by the tasmanian Symphony Orchestra

The Adverts “For The Journey”  are a matter of taste. You either love or hate them.

In the first Advert, a couple meet on a train, fall in love, get married, buy a house, build an extension, have a child - who grows up, meets a lover and moves out. The advert ends with the now elderly couple waving goodbye to their daughter and husband leaving on a train.

The music Eliza’s Aria by Elena Katsby is somewhat haunting & the adverts leave you wanting to follow the story. In the second advert the train slows right down & gently pushes through the cows-the look in their eyes is sublime.  The snow capped hill's, the snow on the wind & you can almost feel the cold weather.

Now we have part three, take note & we now have the addition of your typical 'Train Spotter' & watch Mr Alligator when he comes face to face with a cuddly bunny rabbit ;-)
